July 27th: Saturday’s Football Double – 5/1 Special, Betting Tips & Predictions

With the return of all of Europe’s elite fast approaching on the horizon, we have plenty of action from across the globe this weekend.

As the likes of Belgium’s Pro League open up the 2024/25 campaign on Saturday, there are also a host of eye-catching affairs from across Brazil.

For those of you looking to stick on a Saturday flutter, we have taken a glance at two of the most appealing betting markets.

19:45 Anderlecht vs St. Truiden

Enjoying what was an eye-catching Pro League campaign last season as they clinched a bronze medal among Belgium’s elite, some around Lotto Park could be dreaming of the chance to mount a genuine title charge this time around. Storming their way to a Europa League ticket and excited to open the 2024/25 campaign this weekend, the Brussels-based outfit will be looking to make an early statement here. Enjoying what was a sensational summer run during their pre-season preparations, Brian Riemer’s camp won five of their six friendly matchups. Signing off their summer plans with a thumping 6-2 romp against French outfit Amiens, the former Copenhagen camp will also be excited by Anderlecht’s stellar record on home soil. In fact, continuing on from last season, Saturday’s hosts have won seven of their last eight appearances at Lotto Park a run that stems all the way back to March 16th.

On the flip side, eventually forced to settle for a bottom-half finish last season, St. Truiden are hoping to find some much-welcomed stability this time around. However, signing off the 2023/24 campaign with a routine 2-0 defeat away at Gent and claiming just a single win from any of their final eight Pro League appearances, Saturday’s guests appear to have a stern opening challenge on the cards here. Drawing a line under their pre-season preparations last weekend with a 3-0 drumming at the hands of Bundesliga outfit Koln, Christian Lattanzio’s side have also shown some worrying defensive issues over the past few weeks. Including a 4-0 loss against Dutch giants Ajax on July 9th, the Limburg-based outfit conceded 12 goals in their final four friendly matchups. It should also be noted, St. Truiden have also lost their previous four showdowns against Anderlecht by an aggregate score of 12-2.

Betting Tip: Anderlecht win Both teams to score @ 21/10 with

23:00 Palmeiras vs Vitoria

Making an immediate return to winning ways last weekend as they secured a routine 2-0 victory against Cruzeiro, Palmeiras have their sights set on retaining their Serie A crown this season. Opening July with a 2-0 win against Corinthians, Abel Ferreira’s men have collected nine points from their previous four top-flight appearances and they should be smelling the chance to make another statement here. Embarking on a real Copa Libertadores romp this season and cruising their way to a knockout stage ticket, Saturday’s hosts have also gained a fearsome reputation for their success at the Allianz Parque. Including a 2-0 victory against Bahia earlier in the month, the former Braga boss has seen his squad win all of their previous seven consecutive showdowns in front of their own supporters. It should also be noted, Palmeiras have conceded just a single goal at the Allianz Parque in almost 400 minutes of action.

Although Vitoria might have secured a Serie A return this season, Thiago Carpini’s men have a real battle on their hands in the race to keep hold of their top-flight status. Enduring what has become a real struggle, Saturday’s guests are already sat in the relegation zone and bracing themselves for a real challenge here. Suffering last-gasp heartbreak at home against Brazil heavyweights Flamengo earlier in the week as they suffered a 2-1 loss, the former Guarani boss has seen his squad lose all of their previous four Serie A appearances. Likewise, signing off June with a 1-0 loss at the hands at Athletico-PR, the Salvador-based outfit have also lost six of their last seven top-flight battles. Likewise, falling to a 1-0 defeat when they welcomed Palmeiras to the Barradao for their reverse showdown on April 14th, we are expecting a similar outcome this weekend.
