Liverpool face Rangers on Tuesday in a friendly which sees Charlie Adam face his former club for the first time since he left Ibrox in 2009.
The midfielder endured a mixed career in Glasgow, playing in Europe and clashes against Celtic while remaining on the sidelines for smaller fixtures.
But the Scotland international is hoping the Reds can use the game to build up momentum and confidence ahead of their next Premier League match.
There were ups and downs really. I had some great times there but also some hard times and that was with not playing, which was a difficult period, Adam told Sky Sports.
But since moving south, the midfielder insists he still follows the progress of his former club as admits that the match is one he is eager to feature in.
The friendly is certainly one I m looking forward to because it s not very often you get the opportunity to go back and play against your former club, Adam told Liverpool s official website.
Hopefully it will be a good game and we can get the right result which is important because winning breeds confidence.
If we can win that it will give us a boost going into Saturday’s game with Norwich.”
I still have some people there I know. Obviously my brother, Grant, is there (with Rangers U19s) so that helps, he continued. I do keep a look out for their results but my main concern now is Liverpool.
The ex-Blackpool man also commented on the benefits of the game, saying: It s a good opportunity for us to play someone different.
We want to get back in the Champions League so this game will be a good test for us and different to the Barclays Premier League.
