Cole Palmer admits it will be “weird” going back to Manchester City on Saturday as a Chelsea player.

Palmer makes a first return to the Etihad Stadium since moving to west London in a surprise switch at the end of the summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old cost Chelsea an initial £40million with an additional £2.5m in possible add-ons, but the deal has proved value for money as Palmer tops the Blues’ scoring charts with 12 goals.

“I have been surprised by how well it’s gone here so quickly, but I always back myself to succeed,” Palmer told the club’s official website.

Borussia Monchengladbach have extended the contract of coach Lucien Favre to June 2017.

Favre s deal had been due to expire next year but the Swiss has now committed to the club for a further two seasons.

After moving to Borussia Park in February 2011, Favre s most notable achievement came in 2012 when he led Monchengladbach to the qualifying stages of the UEFA Champions League.

Lucien has done outstanding work with us in the past three years, said sporting director Max Eberl. Our (successful) relegation fight in 2011 and the return to the European Cup in 2012 are most directly associated with his name.

Juventus winger Marko Pjaca s season is over after the Croatian FA confirmed he sustained an anterior cruciate knee ligament injury while on international duty against Estonia.

The 21-year-old was stretchered off in the second half of a 3-0 friendly defeat in Tallinn on Tuesday and following scans, Croatia released a statement detailing the need for surgery and an absence of several months .

After medical exams, we can confirm Marko Pjaca suffered a hard knee injury, the statement read.

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski said his regular €50 bets with head coach Jurgen Klopp at Borussia Dortmund turned him into a goal machine.

The former Liverpool and England international passed away on Monday following a long-term illness.
